Ely Cathedral, the Ship of the Fens, stands proud and majestic over the surrounding fenlands.  It was lit as a beacon to  guide airmen home after a raid, and today is often spotlit to celebrate events and people.  When I was working on paintings for the Secret Life of Ely Cathedral exhibition, the stonemason told me when he has been away he never feels he is home until he has sight of the Cathedral.  This oil and cold wax painting is on cradled panel, set in a painted tray frame, overall size  54x54cm.
