The Great London Plane Tree of Ely is ailing, and I created this oil and cold wax painting of an area of its bark.  This is a stunningly beautiful veteran tree, approximately 365 years old, growing in the Old Palace garden in Ely.  Some cutting edge conservation work is being carried out to monitor and preserve the tree for as long as is possible.  I will donate 10% of the sale of this painting to the preservation fund.  
"Surface Delight" is currently on show at the Old Fire Engine House, Ely, which serves delicious lunches and dinners, as well as excellent cake with morning coffee or afternoon tea.
