The Great London Plane Tree of Ely is ailing, and I created this oil and cold wax painting of an area of its bark.  This is a stunningly beautiful veteran tree, approximately 365 years old, growing in the Old Palace garden in Ely.  Some cutting edge conservation work is being carried out to monitor and preserve the tree for as long as is possible.  I will donate 10% of the sale of this painting to the preservation fund.  Oils and cold wax on cradled panel set in a white tray frame, overall size 28 x 23cm.
