The beautiful open wild sandy rocky qualities of my favourite beach in Costa Rica has provided so much inspiration, from close up details to wide expanses.  This painting is about the freedom of space that I feel when I arrive on the beach.  The beach is also a place where pelicans feed, fly in squadron-like formation and surf the waves, howler monkeys call from the trees edging the sand, iguanas climb the trees in the company of squirrels and birds.  Lobsters, dolphins, sharks, and many other fish inhabit the sea alongside a lone sea lion.  There is something wherever you look.  It is a precious place.
